The rear of the instrument is decorated the same way, with coloured inlays in the garlands. Music box plays a tune which is very familiar, but I just cant name it. Some romantic Italian ballad I think! Measurements: 24 cm long and 7.75 cm wide (9.1/2 inches by 3 inches). Plays well. Very good condition. Probably originally a souvenir from Italy, dating early 20th century.
