The fruit was machine harvested and transported to Bimbadgen Estate for crushing and pressing. 11% of the juice was subjected to only a short settling period, prior to transfer to aged oak. Weemala is both an aboriginal word for good view and the name of the vineyard in the Central Ranges of NSW. The Central ranges is renowned for its cool weather and is home to the highest viticultural region in Australia-Orange- 2550-3000 feet above sea level. Right now you've got a pretty good view of the Logan Pinot Gris. You'll find 2008 has produced a lovely mandarin and pear aroma with flavours of quince and lemon.

Winemaker's Comments: Individual parcels of Pinot Gris were hand picked and treated separately to accentuate vineyard individuality of this variety. Gently crushed with skins removed to minimize colour, the juice was chilled to below six degrees before transferring to stainless tanks for fermentation. This wine is made from Pinot Gris grapes grown at Lerida's vineyard at Lake George. It was fermented mostly in stainless steel, but 10% was fermented in older oak barrels. The wine shows apple, spice, citrus and rose aromas with savoury, vanilla overtones. The palate is rich and textured with a slight sweetness and a balanced acid finish. Here’s a company that can’t seem to do much wrong at the moment, not just producing top quality wines, but they have also set up one of the best cellar doors going around - if you’re up in the Hills it’s a definite must see.
