Pierro LTC, a blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and a little touch of Chardonnay which in the early days was known as ‘Les Trios Cuvees’, owes much of its freshness to the production regime. The grapes are chilled at 5˚C and loaded into the press at that temperature for whole bunch pressing. This refinement of the process means that the resulting wines are more delicate and less phenolic than previously and have improved mouth feel and greater length of flavour.

This is a fresh and lively wine bursting with bright, fresh tropical fruit characters with hints of lemon and subtle tropical fruit salad notes. Fans of the herbaceous, crisp New Zealand Sav Blancs will love this it's made in a very similar style. Fruit for this excellent new savvy comes from Scott Hicks vineyard in Kuitpo, high in the hills directly behind McLaren Vale. The parcels were picked and processed within 2 hours to ensure that the vibrancy and freshness of the fruit was retained. Free run and pressing fractions were separated. All the parcels were fermented using natural yeasts only and lees stirring was carried out until bottling.

I love the wines coming out of this region. Kiwi winemaker P. J Charteris has pulled together grapes from the (almost) alpine slopes of Orange and warmer valley floor of Mudgee, to produce an absolute cracker of an SBS. The length is as surprising as the price. Fresh and bright, with enough backbone to pull its weight against seared sesame tuna or BBQ harissa chicken. An intense varietal nose leads to a delicate and elegant palate. There is good continuation of fruit flavour on the finish which is fresh and crisp. Jack's Comments: This wine is just bursting with flavour of passionfruit and fruit salad. Not in the New Zealand style and not the same intenstity but still a nice refreshing easy drinking Sauvignon Blanc. A little more delicate than the previous vintage which i don't mind to be honest.
