2007 Hewitson ' Ned & Henry's' Shiraz — $89.00
I'm loving these wines. Sure, some of them we've done before, but I like them so much they're not going anywhere just yet. The whites from the Eden Valley and the Adelaide Hills...simply stunning. The lush reds are rich and juicy without being over the top... real crowd-pleasers. No need to brave the elements in search of great wine because we've done the hard work for you. We're also about protecting your hip pocket...so you'll save $47 off RRP across the pack.

Riesling queen Kerri Thompson a.k.a. KT has just released her 2009 Watervale Rieslings and Secret Vines is one of the first to get hold of them. The 2008's were some of the most popular wines we have showcased and I don't expect the 2009 editions to be any different. The wines are made according to organic principles and are all handcrafted in tiny amounts.

Man this is good. It does have a touch of sweetness to it, but don't let that put you off. It's luscious and vibrant with tempting feminine curves. Soft characters of exotic spice, citrus and restrained floral blossom coax you back for more. There's a distinct crunchiness too, which gives it a real dryness to the finish.
2008 Cascabel ‘Roussanne Viognier' | Compromises are for relationships, not wine – Sir R.S. Caywood — $169.00
Luxury, opulence, extravagance...all at a fantastic price of course. We continue our Spanish theme in the @$169 pack with Cascabel and a couple of Spanish natives. But we just couldn't resist bringing the ‘The King' back from our last offer while we still could. If you haven't yet tried Peter Clarke's museum release Eden Valley Shiraz (RRP $65) then you haven't lived. This is the life!

159 Twenty Five Ounces of Good Taste — $159.00
It's almost like a State of Origin @ $159 for the mixed pack this time around - Oliver's Taranga are flying the flag for S.A. and Frankland Estate for W.A., except we'll have no unruly behaviour here if it's all the same with you. There is great diversity in this pack between two well regarded vineyard sites. Oliver's have a vineyard which has more than 150 years of history and is one of Australia's and McLaren Vale's finest vineyards. We've sourced two small batch wines Fiano and Tempranillo from...

89 Twenty Five Ounces of Good Taste — $89.00
This time around in our @$89 pack we're featuring Rocky Gully Wines which are the little cousins of the Frankland Estate range. They're all excellent value and very well made from some of the most isolated vineyards in the world (the Frankland River region of Western Australia). We're also bringing Tin Shed Wines from the Eden Valley back into the mix with a couple of luscious reds. The Mourvedre Shiraz Grenache, which is made from 80-year-old vines, could well be the king of this pack - at 5 years...
View more about 2008 Oliver's Taranga Tempranillo (small batch range) — $30.00
This is another small batch Oliver's wine that is really worth trying. Like any good Temp this wine has a crushed, dried spice character that tends to linger on and on. It's definitely straying on the full bodied side of the game - an iron fist in a satin glove type o' feel. Really savoury and dry. Someone break out the spicy homemade sausage!
Wine offers and specials: Super Shiraz — $132.00
At five years of age, the wine has developed superbly. It's got a long savoury spine that is engulfed in the most luxurious of tannin that is both soft and very firm. It has near perfect proportions and is drinking extremely well now but it will age comfortably for another 15 years or so.
2006 Primo Estate ‘Zamberlan' Cabernet Sangiovese — $28.00
Who doesn't love Cabernet and Sangiovese blends? The two varieties nestle in so well together, like two pups in a pen. It's easy to see why the rise of the ‘Super Tuscan' (as they're known in Italy) has been so prolific over the past decade. This one's named after winemaker Joe's father in law, so he's obviously confident on it too.
Wine offers and specials: Stellar Italian fizz — $198.00
Move aside France - this well structured Italian beauty really is a cracker, and at a fraction of the cost. My guests were impressed... it's the kind of drink I could never have found myself.

The Bottin family has been growing grapes in McLaren Vale since 1970 and in Italy for generations before that. For all time, ‘easy does it' has been the approach and concepts like ‘high tech' never made it in the window on the Bottin farm. It's a tin shed, hand labour, a pod of old wine barrels and a bucket load of love. The wines began in the old-time ritual of farm gate producers - a treasured trade item to share and barter with the neighbours. The upshot over the years has been mountains of fresh...
2004 five geese Shiraz | The biggest scene you’ve ever seen — $24.00

2007 Cascabel Tempranillo Greciano | Compromises are for relationships, not wine – Sir R.S. Caywood — $169.00
This retake on Rioja is all stern attitude dressed up in silk. This is an emerging classic and I'm sure you'll remember where you drank it for the first time and what the occasion was. It's a bit like a top euro sports car, powerful underneath but detailed and soft on the inside. Do yourself a favour and try this.... get in touch if you want a straight case for cellaring because this Tempranillo Greciano will be 10 years of bliss.
2005 Vallformosa ‘Classic' Rosѐ Cava | Compromises are for relationships, not wine – Sir R.S. Caywood — $169.00

2007 Paxton 'Quandong Farm' Shiraz — $169.00
I say we're on the runway because these are all model wines I'd gladly show to any wine fashionistas out there - not necessarily for the labels, but what's inside. Every wine has a little flair and an artistic bent. This season (or offer) we've dug up some classics and a couple of hot new lines. The whites are all strong representatives in their own class. The three Shiraz will make for a fantastic compare and contrast.

169 The Simple Pleasures — $169.00
This is a seriously good wine. It's the classic Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet and it has pretty much been nailed right here! There are so many flavours in there I'd sound like a wine nerd if I were to name them all.
99 The Simple Pleasures — $99.00
James Kellie, the owner and winemaker of Harewood is notorious for producing great white wines. He was the winemaker of Howard Park Wines before taking the plunge in 2003 with his family to purchase Harewood Estate. The winery is based in Denmark in the Great Southern region of W.A., not far from our friends at Frankland Estate.

2006 Tin Shed ‘Melting Pot' Shiraz — $89.00
Opening the wines in this week's value pack was loads of fun, and I'm sure you will feel the same way! They are all standout wines, and yet again we are very proud that our small producers are able to supply us these wines at such a great price. We've saved over 25% on standard RRP pricing across the pack, and not a bin-end or dodgy bottle in sight. The Empty Bottle Club is alive - live it!

2007 Oliver’s Taranga ‘Cadenzia’ Grenache — $159.00
This is an evocative wine.... oh Grenache, the variety of lust. Close your eyes and take a big whiff and you'll be instantly transported to a salacious cabaret club. The perfume is of spice, smokiness and succulent berries with hints of well worn floral fragrance. My mind keeps drifting to a show at the Moulin Rouge - refined silk not so well hidden in the boldness of the darker hours of the evening, a mischievous little number.
2008 Hewitson 'Gun Metal' Riesling — $89.00
I'm loving these wines. Sure, some of them we've done before, but I like them so much they're not going anywhere just yet. The whites from the Eden Valley and the Adelaide Hills...simply stunning. 2008 Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch ‘Wild Ferment Chardonnay — $169.00
This is a moorish chardonnay from the Strathbogie Ranges in Victoria. First I tried it with goat's cheese soufflé. The second with chicken legs stuffed with spinach and pine nuts. Both times it was perfect - plenty of succulent chard aromas and great length. The winemaker Sam Plunkett tells us it's the best he's ever made (and he's made some highly rated Chardonnays). Get shooting ladies because I'm bringing this one to lunch.
2008 Hewitson 'Miss Harry — $89.00
I'm loving these wines. Sure, some of them we've done before, but I like them so much they're not going anywhere just yet. The whites from the Eden Valley and the Adelaide Hills...simply stunning. 2006 Vigna Bottin Barbera — $22.00
Easy drinking Italian styles of wine at this price point are just too good to pass up - they're tasty and they're good value - and it would be crazy not to put a true blue Aussie or two in there to arm wrestle them. Although these 4 Italians are actually home grown versions, they've got the same trait that I love about the originals and that's personality. The Mt Crawford Riesling and Shiraz Cab (a benchmark Aussie blend) may be outnumbered but they will certainly hold their own.
2008 Cascabel Riesling — $89.00

2008 Torzi Matthews ‘Schist Rock’ Shiraz — $89.00
You'll be keeping good company with our @$89 bunch. We love our eccentric family of winemakers who push the notion of art over science - especially when they're turning their art into something magic for us to drink. Torzi Matthews is a new comer to the SV team and Dominic Torzi is a notorious cavalier to boot. His shiraz has got tongues wagging and his riesling can best be described as an unabashed flirt. Tastes good to me!
2007 Frankland Estate 'Isolation Ridge' Chardonnay — $159.00
When I've got family and friends coming to visit, nothing pleases me more than pleasing them with top wine. I like to plan a session well in advance so that nothing pedestrian slips through the cracks. My secret for a memorable wine session is to mix it up and make it progressive- include the old favourites alongside something new, thrilling and conversation worthy.

2006 Vigna Bottin Sangiovese — $159.00
This is from the Bottin clan, an Italian family who have been growing grapes in McLaren Vale for 40 years and in Italy for generations before that. Sangiovese is the famous grape of Tuscany. This is a beautiful wine from the 2006 vintage, which almost impossible to get hold of (we have not sold this vintage before and I believe we've secured most of the production). Savour this one with your favourite rustic Italian dish and be extravagant with the hand gestures!
99 The Simple Pleasures wine offer — $99.00
It's easy to take pleasure from six tasty wines like this. Top-rated wineries Bremerton, Harewood Estate and K1 by Geoff Hardy make their Secret Vines debut. Meerea Park and Five Geese round out a supreme line-up.
2009 Primo Estate ‘la biondina’ Colombard — $15.00
The ‘la biondina'(the young blonde) is an absolute favourite and the 2009 version is a sure fire hit. I call this wine a modern Australian classic because it was one of the first crisp, dry whites around and still remains unique and reliably tasty. It's made from colombard which has tropical twists, but what makes it so good is the crunchiness that tends to linger on and on. A cool, dry white with a vivacious personality.... everyone should have this blonde lying around the house!
2005 Vallformosa ‘Classic' Rosѐ Cava — $169.00

2008 Setanta ‘Sauvignon Blanc — $22.00
This is truly a world class sauvignon blanc. There's a skirmish going on between a light figure and a muscular torso - but this wine knows what it wants to be. It's a slightly different ‘cat' as they say. A cat amongst the pigeons without the tropical Hawaiian shirt maybe? Delicious, dry and decadent.
2008 Setanta ‘Riesling — $22.00
The Setanta vineyard is located on the crossroads of the Eden Valley, Barossa and Adelaide Hills wine regions but is officially designated as Adelaide Hills - so it could well be described as the middle point of the compass for some wine devotees.

2008 Primo Estate ‘il briccone' Shiraz Sangiovese — $22.00
I have been a fan of this wine for some years and I think it is just getting better and better. This vintage has all the powerful features of shiraz with the sangiovese really making its mark felt - such a great dimension to add, particularly the cherry characters. It packs some punch but still does so in a restrained way.
2006 Cascabel ‘Tipico' Grenache Monastrell Shiraz | Compromises are for relationships, not wine – Sir R.S. Caywood — $169.00

2006 Cascabel Shiraz — $179.00
Ladies and Gents the time is at hand for some exceptional winter reds. I've been so excited about this pack that I haven't stopped talking about it for weeks...I think I may even have been sleep talking about how good it is. These are all wines made close to home for me (in and around McLaren Vale) and they're all personal favourites. Leading the charge is the Hewitson ‘Mad Hatter' Shiraz, which has been causing quite a storm in the wine trade and has a recommended retail price of $70 per bottle...
