Alarm Clocks Buying Guide

Getting up in the morning can be a very pleasant or a downright horrible event.  Sometimes it changes the mood of your entire day.  An alarm clock  affects your day-to-day activities, or at least the ones in the morning.  Choosing the right one is important not only your peace of mind, but also to your commute and most likely your breakfast

What Should I Look For?

There are a lot of options available when purchasing an alarm clock.

  • Does it match your décor? Some bedrooms are more carefully furnished  than others, and it's something to consider when purchasing an item that will be very close to your bed
  • How deep of a sleeper are you? Some wake before their alarm; others sleep through three going off at once. Try to find an alarm that is not only loud enough, but maybe with some extra features:
    • Some alarms come with moving parts that can force you to chase them around the room before they can be turned off, so you're really up!
    • Some alarms have flashing lights, and even sirens to really get your attention.
    • Some have soothing music or slowly ascending alarms to rouse you gently.
    • Others have only lights, to wake you with a feeling of natural sunlight.
    • Some are fairly violent, and shake your bed.
  • What do you want out of your alarm clock? Is it merely for waking you in the morning,or do you also want a piece of equipment with your favourite cartoon character on it? Something that expresses you? Or are you looking for a bed-side music player?

There are a lot of different options and accessories available for alarm clocks, and it really just depends on what you need, what you want, and what your budget can handle.
