Baby Feeding Spoons Buying Guide

Switching to baby food  is always a big step, and you want to be sure that baby has the proper utensils  for such a momentous event. There are a lot of options to choose from, and luckily, there are baby spoons  that are widely available. Before giving baby his or her first food, make sure to check a few things out.

  • Check with your paediatrician.  Is baby really ready for food?
  • Check the spoon size and materials.  You don't want baby struggling with a spoon that's too big, or too hard for his or her mouth.
  • Check the temperature.  Babies are sensitive to hot and cold things in their mouths; check the temperature before feeding baby. Many spoons are available that do this for you.
  • Check to see what needs to be covered.  Investing in a plastic sheet  (aka splat mat), along with a sturdy bib  is a good plan, since they're easier to wash than upholstery and carpet.
  • Check the food.  Make sure it's age appropriate for baby
  • Have fun!
