Bridal Lingerie and Hosiery Buying Guide

After all the fanfare that comes with the dress you would probably rather not think about anything else that you have to wear for your big day. But lingerie  is important too! It can help to make your wedding day  and your wedding night  special. The right amount of support under your dress and the right amount of sexiness later will help you to feel beautiful the whole day through. Below, check out your options for bridal lingerie

Bras

Depending on the cut of your dress, you may need a strapless bra or a backless one. Below, a couple of cuts to  consider. As for colours, most bridal lingerie is available in white to keep with the hue of the dress, but you can always buy lingerie in black red or another colour of your choosing, so long as it doesn't show through your white dress.

Underwear

Check out your options for the different underwear cuts to go with your bra. Colour and pattern designs with underwear can be just as creative as bras, and you can also choose to have wedding-related wording like "bride" across the back or the front, which makes it even more fun! Consider what type of cut looks good and feels comfortable, and also if you want tummy control.

The Wedding Night

Now that the day is finally over, you and your partner can enjoy each other! If you choose to buy something a little more exciting than the matching bra and underwear, consider these options below.

Bustiers : This is a form fitting top that pushes up your bust and shapes your waist.  Its design consists of panels and usually a lace-up back to enhance your look.

Camisoles  : These can be worn under certain clothing but serves lingerie purposes as well. It has a low cut front and usually exposes the navel. Lacy and colourful designs can be paired with just about any type of bottoms.

Garter Belts : While these were initially used as underwear attachments to hold up stockings, today they have a sexier appeal. Garter belts can come in all different designs with stockings to match.

Nighties : This is a one piece undergarment that can be made out of soft materials like silk and compliment your figure with a long, flowing design. You have lots of options, whether it be sheer, patterned, or low-cut.

Babydolls : These are short, sexy nighties that usually feature a bralette attached to a short, loose skirt. Matching underwear usually comes with the set and it can come decorated with lace, ruffles, or other assorted styles.

Hosiery

Bridal hosiery  is another nice addition to your wedding day or night ensemble. Obviously your stocking colour is going to match the rest of your nightwear, so consider white  or sheer colours, or even a tan  colour that might be nice for giving your legs a sun-kissed look.  You might also opt to wear knee high stockings so choose ones with a wide opening on top that will stay up and not slide down your legs. Patterns or designs like fishnets  can give a sexy look, and control top pantyhose  can look classy while complimenting the ensemble.

Things to Remember

A few more helpful tips before you say "I do."

  • Make sure you feel comfortable. This applies to everything: the wedding day lingerie and the wedding night lingerie. If you don't feel like you look good or your lingerie seems too tight to the point where you can't breathe, then it's probably not going to look as flattering as you want it to. Try on a few options and pick something you want - if you like it, chances are your significant other will too!
  • Wear a bra that you know is supportive and will last you all day long. Don't take the chance that straps will be falling down or you will have to keep hoisting up your strapless.
  • As for underwear, make sure you have a comfy pair that fits snugly as you don't want to be worrying about picking that wedgie during the ceremony!
  • If you choose to wear a garter belt underneath to hold up your stockings, make sure it is not bulky and doesn't show through the wedding dress.
  • Always bring an extra pair of pantyhose for the wedding day. You don't want to take a chance that your pair is going to rip.
