Collectibles and Memorabilia Buying Guide

Collecting is a fun hobby that's perfect for any age. No matter what your interest, there's something for everyone.  Remember, whether you choose to display your items at home or sell them for a profit, collecting takes time and patience. Below, some tips on collecting and some of our guides to get you started.

Tips to Remember

  • Items from popular or cult films  are usually worth more than those from lesser known movies.
  • Always look for pieces that are in good condition. Whether you plan on selling or keeping it, you want your piece to be as free of marks and smudges as possible.
  • Any vintage collectibles associated with pop culture  icons, such as Marilyn Monroe are sure to be worth a lot of money.
  • Avoid buying merchandise with fake autographs--research your dealers and take time with your purchase.
  • When storing autographs, use high quality plastic, otherwise the ink will rub off.
  • Keep in mind that UV rays, humidity, water and fluorescent lighting can all cause serious damage to your treasures. Invest in protective covering for certain items and store them in an optimal place.
  • Price guides  can helpful in determining how much your items are worth.
