Haunted House Decorations Buying Guide

Contents[Hide]
For a fun and creepy Halloween, one must include decorations, props, and treats. Decorations  aren't just for parties or haunted houses either. They're perfect for a fun night of handing out lollies or just to get you and your family in the holiday spirit (insert pun here). For any good party or just in general, the creepier the better (depending on the age groups you expect, however). Remember that if there are children involved, creepy is good, but traumatising is generally frowned upon. For a fun, and safe All Hallows' Eve some plastic trinkets like the standard ghosts werewolves vampires and Frankenstein are delightful, and tasty treats are always recommended.

Spooky Essentials

Skeletons  are always a Halloween favourite. They're creepy and come in differing shades of realism. Some are fun and cartoonish, and some are just plain scary and disgusting. Choose the right one for the age group you are expecting at your house.

Spider webs  are fairly standard.  They will easily transform your house into an abandoned dilapidated crypt, and will most likely leave little cotton bits until next summer.

Rats bats spiders snakes bugs or black cats whatever creepy critter strikes your fancy, there are a million different plastic or rubber versions for sale. Just spread some around the floor, in the crisps, or anywhere near treats and witness your mates' reactions.

Tombstones  can add an extra element to your garden, be a spooky centrepiece, or just decorate your wainscotting--your choice. Wherever you can fit them, and the more creative, the better.

Brain moulds  are sure to please, especially those made of gelatine. Don't be disappointed if much is left uneaten--that speaks to the realistic and gritty factors.

Fun and Creepy  Props

Monster hands  are delightful and icky at the same time. Cleverly camouflaging it will be sure to give your guests a scare and a laugh.

Halloween confetti  can be just plain gross and awesome. Confetti spiders are great to throw wherever, and watch them add to the general atmosphere.

The Grim Reaper  is a classic piece of Halloween scenery, a prop, and a familiar skull-face. Bringing him to your party is sure to lighten the mood, especially if he talks.

Skull bowls  make grabbing lollies or crisps a delightful task. Some skull bowls are anatomically correct, and creepily life-like.

A floating ghost  is always fun for your garden, or to hang up above a stairwell, or on the entrance to the toilet. Wherever you can hang it, it adds a little something.

Extra Scary Décor

Severed Heads  add a touch of something special to any hallway, table, or low hanging branch.

The Undead  can be quite lively guests when you have an animatronic zombie as part of your celebrations.

"Realistic" ghosts  are fun as long as the tykes don't get too  scared. But for a grown-ups party, they can be quite enjoyable.

Body parts can be especially appetising next to food! Adds a touch of the black death to any Halloween party.  Look for severed arms  and feet

Coffins : Because who doesn't need one of these at a party? Sure to spice up the evening.  Mummy not included.

For The Die-Hard Decorator

Clear duct tape  helps hang all of your Halloween ghouls.

Black lights  and strobe lights  completely set the mood with creative lighting.

A fog machine  adds a layer of fog, and a creepy aura.

Creepy CDs  set the audio soundtrack for your party, creepy screams and ghostly sounds.

Glow-in-the-Dark paints  can only add to your festivities.
