Consult your health care professional before use if you are taking prescription antidepressants (tricyclics or SSRIs). St Johns wort may interfere with the action of these medications. If taking biphosphonates (osteoporosis drugs), tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, thyroid hormones or calcium channel blockers (angina and blood pressure drugs) separate doses by at least 2 hours. Calcium may decrease the absorption and efficacy of these medications.

St John’s wort has been noted to increase the action of the hepatic P450 enzyme system, which may decrease the efficacy of these medications.
