When not being used, the padded suitcase can be folded to a smaller size that makes it much easier to store - but it is still relatively big. The suitcase is more suited to the traveler who has a fixed destination (like a hotel) that they are using as a base, and for people who are flying out of the same place that they landed in. It's really not possible to transport the padded suitcase on the bike so its no good for the adventurous tourer.

The cover has convenient gap at the top allowing you to grab hold of your bike by the main tube for easy carrying. While youar not using the cover, you can fold it (like a rain jacket) inot a very small package. If you have to check you Birdy in as luggage on a train or bus, then we recommend wrapping the delecate parts of your BIrdy in bubblewrap or dardboard before pacind the cover over the bike.
