Amisfied Dry Riesling 2007

Pale straw in colour, the wine exudes an intoxicating and alluring perfume of green apples and citrus blossom, through to grapefruit and honey. The palate is taut yet mouth-filling with knife edge acidity and displaying great flavour intensity while maintaining the elegance, finesse and character. Wonderful on its own as an aperitif or this wine will compliment creamy foods, as well as poultry, grilled fish or spicy Asian inspired cuisine. Drinking well while young this dry white wine will develop...

Phoenix Canterbury Dry Riesling 2002

A green, high herbal and citrus lime palate with a good level of acidity. This is the wine I chose to eat the entire amount of dill with and it went brilliantly. The vegetables and herbs were synergistic. They merged, they complemented. The mousse cut through the acidity. The flavour profiles merged. The cream was pulled back. The whole thing was terrific. This wine is very lucky because it just happened to match that food brilliantly.

FRAMINGHAM MARLBOROUGH DRY RIESLING 2003

Had very delicate aromatics. Palate was dry. Beautiful balance. Lovely Riesling fruit character and a long, clean finish. The food left the wine still good, but muted and reduced in the scope of its complexity and aromatics. It still held up pretty well. It was an enjoyable glass and the finish retained its clean pleasant character.

SPY VALLEY DRY RIESLING 2004

Very bright. Very well made and put together. Balanced. Good acidity, good fruit weight. All the nice Riesling varietal characters. It had a secondary layer of green, herbal spice which came out with the food. Unfortunately there is a twang of acid at the end. It was slightly overbalanced on the acidic side, but this wine is probably very young.

MT DIFFICULTY DRY RIESLING 2006

Tasty terpene notes on this relatively young wine were a little disconcerting. However the wine was still bright and balanced on the palate making it a most attractive wine which could be drunk now or kept plus or minus two years. It also proved to be a very amiable dinner companion for the food. Its acidity cutting through the richness of the dish and its terpene notes adding some complexity to the aromas.

KENDERMAN PFALZ DRY RIESLING 1997

Very pungent limey character. Wonderful intensity and freshness. The palate is racy. Has an almost green apple character as well as the lime, and obviously shows the wine comes from a pretty cool area. Wonderful applely intensity there. I found this wine really sang with the course. That zingy fruit and fresh acidity was really wonderful. A really delicious wine. CHRISTINE COMERFORD (NZ)

FORREST ESTATE DRY RIESLING 1999

A rather more austere style. Stone fruits on the nose. Fine on the palate. Fresh and zesty. Concentrated lime. Tangy. Very good length. At first, the herbs in the dish dominated and tended to fight the wine. When the other flavours came through, the seafood and pork, the combination worked perfectly despite the austerity. Raciness of the wine helped cleanse the palate.

d’ARENBERG DRY DAM FLEURIEU PENINSULA RIESLING 1997

Shows slight development, a little toastiness appearing over citrus fruit on the nose. Quite a complex palate and the development at this stage tends to have flattened the fruit and I think that wine may be in an in between stage where it's neither fresh nor fully developed. That developed flavour to me did not combine with the dish as well as some of the fresher Riesling flavours. MAX ALLEN (AUS)
