Bubbles are fun, lightweight, rainbow coloured, and most of the time made of soap.  Therefore, they are one of the most awesome toys: they get kids to be creative,  the bubbles  themselves are a lot of fun (most adults will gleefully admit that they also love bubbles) and they're very easy to clean up--the bubbles, not the adults.  Just a little water, and that's it. Kids can make their own bubble toys with a wire hanger and a lot of patience, but it's also fun to have a plastic toy with a personality that can be used as both a toy and a bubble maker--two decidedly fun things.
