Restrained, leafy, meaty undergrowth-like aromas slightly overwhelm this wine's sweet mulberry, dark cherry and plum aromas, while dusty, cedary vanilla oak plays second fiddle. Intense berry nose. Massive fruit. Lots of toasty oak, coffee, mocha. Still some red fruit and good firm acidity. A touch syrupy, but the sweetness seemed to complement the food. It was as if the syrupy, slightly confected character of the wine came more into balance. A good combination. A beautiful wine.

Jack's Comments: It is sometimes hit and miss with the Australian Sauvignon Blanc's. Let me same the crew at Yalumba have hit the nail on the head with this excellent wine. It has wonderful ripe fruit characters while still being quite relaxed on the palate. Small packets of sweet fruit also arrive laying the foundation for a pineapple and passionfruit sensation. It finishes off nice and crisp with an exceptional clean finish.
